Righi

The Righi is situated on South Yarra Hill, an area which sits within a pocket nestled between the Botanical Gardens to the west, Punt Road to the east, the Yarra to the north and Domain Road to the south.

Approaching the building from the Righi, one is greeted by the building’s sunken granite façade punctured by coloured window boxes, a sense of playfulness against the darkness and austerity of the stone. The granite façade changes language where it cranks, the bottom is a rougher and smaller module, whilst the top is made up of a smoother, larger configuration. The anchoring of the building along the Righi is juxtaposed against the glazing to the north facade, opening it up to views down the hill.

Internally the Client’s brief was to accommodate 4 generous apartments and a penthouse, all with living spaces orientated to the north. Two basement levels provide occupants with ample parking, a wine cellar and a sauna.’
